Job description Legal Counsel for Visma
This role is a great opportunity if you want to work at a fast growing international company. As a Legal Counsel you will work on a variety of commercial matters with an increased focus on day to day legal issues. You will work alongside the Head of Legal. You are both based in Amsterdam but are able to work remotely and you will work closely with other legal counsels at the business units. The work focuses amongst other things on commercial (IT) contracting and M&A.
Off course you will play an active role in drafting, advising and negotiating various commercial contracts and all sorts of agreements, providing input from a legal and a business perspective. You will proactively serve the local businesses; identify and mitigate legal risks. You have the capacity to reduce legal risks and keep the business compliant but commercially in pace. You have the ability and consciousness to sell the legal department pro-actively by acting as a business partner providing legal support to your stakeholders and creating your own publicity.
"At Visma we take the term “pragmatic” to a higher level. Naturally I'm looking for someone with a good set of legal skills but the person should also have a natural liking for software and technology. Our main work is to support the various business units in the Netherlands with reviewing and negotiating commercial contracts and public tenders. However, you should not flinch if you receive requests in other fields, such as employment or data protection law. In addition, we are responsible for the legal part of all the acquisitions and corporate restructurings in the Netherlands. This means that sometimes we need to coordinate with external counsel but we are also taking on these projects ourselves. Working with that many stakeholders requires a strong personality, good social skills and a positive mindset. In everything you do it is important to distinguish between the must haves and nice to haves. You should not only be able to identify the important risks but also to come up with a practical solution that works for the business. Because our team is small and relatively new you have to be able to proactively and independently pick up cases and be creative and entrepreneurial when coming up with solutions."
