Job description Business Legal Counsel Europe Reinsurance Company / RGA
This role is a great opportunity if you want to work as a generalist in an international and innovative environment.
Due to further growth plans in Europe RGA is looking for a Legal Counsel Europe in the Netherlands. In this position you are part of the Legal team in the European region and you will be based in Gouda at the head office of Leidsche Verzekeringen (a subsidiary of RGA). You will report to the Chief Legal Counsel Europe based in Cologne (Germany).
As a Legal Counsel you assist in the provision of legal advice and provide legal solutions to meet the business demands of RGA’s operations in Europe. In this broad and varied role you deal with commercial, corporate, regulatory and compliance matters. This includes drafting, reviewing and negotiating reinsurance treaties and any other commercial agreements (e.g. confidentiality agreements, vendor service contracts, guarantees and comfort letters, service level agreements).
Occasional international travel will be required.
Requirements Business Legal Counsel Europe Reinsurance Company / RGA
• Qualified to practice law in the Netherlands;
• 5-7 years relevant working experience at a law firm and/or an in-house legal department;
• Good knowledge of general corporate and commercial law (insurance law is a nice to have);
• Exposure to the financial services industry;
• Strong contract review and negotiation skills;
• Experience in multi-national organization would be an advantage;
• Familiarity or experience with European regulations dealing with data protection and other compliance related areas of law.
