For our client James Hardie, world leader in a purely fiber-cement business, we are looking for an experienced commercial Legal Counsel. For this role we are looking for candidates who are available for 24 or max. 32 hours a week.
Functie omschrijving Legal Counsel Europe James Hardie
As Legal Counsel Europe you provide pro active commercial legal support and secure legal compliance to the various departments of the company to protect the (commercial) interests of James Hardie’s European business. You work with the departmental managers to review and provide legal advice on various projects to ensure that the business objectives are achieved. Additionally, you pro-actively inform and educate the employees of the European companies about compliance and legal exposure when doing business in Europe.
Amongst other things you are responsible for handling all HR legal issues and you overlook and maintain all commercial relationships (sales/ procurement). Furthermore you are responsible for managing litigation, training staff on compliance and code of business ethics. You have the ability to communicate legal information to all levels across the business without using “legal lingo” and to prioritize imminent legal issues. In other words: you do have a very strong business sense and your communication skills are excellent. You are used to work structurally, proactively and autonomously.
In this role you will report to the Senior Legal Counsel Europe.
Functie eisen Legal Counsel Europe James Hardie
- You have 4-8 years of relevant experience gained in an international business environment and/or in a reputable law firm;
- You have relevant experience with respect to (international) commercial contracting, employment law and corporate housekeeping (preferably for multiple jurisdictions in Europe);
- You are a strong personality, down to earth and you have a no-nonsense mentality, ability to manage multiple concurrent assignments;
- You are structured, result driven and pragmatic;
- Fluent in Dutch and English (verbally and written), fluent in French is an absolute advantage.
